대학캠퍼스가 부럽지 않은<br> Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School

버지니아 주는 여름에는 무덥고 비가 많이 내리지만 겨울에는 온난한 날씨로 학생들이 생활하기에 쉽게 적응하기에 좋은 주입니다. Virginia Beach는 인구는 42만 5257명 정도입니다. 대서양과 체서피크만에 접한 휴양도시이며 노퍽(Norfolk), 뉴포트 뉴스(Newport News)와 함께 인구 154만 2143명(1998)의 대도시권을 이루고 있습니다. 버지니아 비치에서 20분 정도의 거리에 있으며 학교도서관, 아트갤러리 등 학교 내부시설이 잘 되어 있습니다.

1949년에 Richmond as Norfolk Catholic High School 재단에 의해 설립되었으며 남녀공학으로 총 500여명의 학생이 재학 중입니다. 48명의 교사들로 구성되어 이중 71%이상이 석사학위를 가지고 있으며, 교사와 학생 비율은 1:11정도로 평균 학급당 학생수는 18명 정도입니다. 학교에 비치된 컴퓨터는 160대이며 모든 인터넷 시설이 되어 있습니다. 모든 12학년 학생들은 졸업 전까지 80시간의 Community Service를 이수해야 합니다. AP(Advanced Placement) 과목은 English Literature, U.S. history, U.S Government, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Biology, Germen, French, Spanish, Latin AP, Latin CH, Studio Art


SAT 성적은 1151점 이며 버지니아는 1024점보다 우위에 있으며 SAT II는 과목별로 아래와 같은 평균점수가 나타나고 있습니다.

학비는 카톨릭 신자인 경우에 $8,943이며 일반 학생들은 $9,943 입니다. Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School 에서는 다른 나라의 문화를 알 수 있는 클럽이 많이 있습니다. 예를 들어, African American Club, Filipino Culture Club, French Club, German Club, Spanish Club 등은 각 클럽에서 각 나라의 문화, 언어 등에 대한 이벤트 혹은 영화상영을 통해서 각 국가를 알 수 있는 기회를 마련하고 있습니다. 이 밖에도 Art Club, Blue Crab Bowl Team, Chorus Club, Creative Writing Club, Crusaders For Justice, Destination Imagination, Drama, Fencing Club, Forensics, Graeco-Roman Club, The Great Computer Challenge, Literary Magazine, Math Club, Model United Nations, Mountaineering Club, National honor Society, Newspaper, Operation Smile, Shakespeare Celebration, Ski Club, Student Government, Web Club, Yearbook 이 있어서 관심 있는 분야에 참여할 수 있습니다.
